We did it, folks! We filmed a movie. I learned so much. Didn’t get enough footage yesterday for a full length feature, so it looks like it’ll be a short for now! At least until I can get my writer brain working again and my editing skills up!

Enjoying (stressing out) my last two days of freedom (last minute prepro) before we film my first feature! Im very excited (scared shitless) and cant wait to see what happens (currently going through every worst case scenario)!! Gonna take a deep breath (have a panic attack) and relax (panic)!

I have been invited to a Halloween party for the first time in like… 8 years!!! I have not been this excited about a social adventure in a long time, but I gotta keep my cool so I bought a Maverick costume so it’s not weird if I get overstimulated and wear my aviators the whole time. Let’s do this!

After a job, it always takes me a little bit to recover. It’s like… what do you mean I don’t get to hang out with my new family of brilliant creative people and do arts and crafts to achieve a bigger vision for 12 hours a day anymore? What do you mean no one is going to tell me when to eat?

I can’t go into detail, but damn I had a good day on set today. Movies are magic, even when you’re just running around hanging flags and taking down signs. Movies are fucking magic and I will hear nothing to the contrary. Keep making movies. All of us. Let’s just do that.

So… shit. I heard a song and it inspired this whole new script. And while, yes, I need to keep writing new material, I also have so much to do on the movie and this new script is consuming me. Ah, the pains and pleasures of being a writer… #ScriptSky

So there it is. On December 30th, me and six of my closest friends are going to film a quick and dirty movie most likely on an iPhone and it’s gonna be awesome even if it’s a disaster. My biggest concern is post, but I’ll have to figure that out, won’t I!!

Plus, the script will evolve with what my non-actor actors will bring and the whole gosh golly point of this project is to train myself how to make a movie! I hope everything that can go wrong goes wrong (within reason) so I can figure out how to manage before I get any real money to make a movie.

I’ll just say I’m proud of myself now that the script is done. I wrote it for no budget with the things I have and the people I knew would help me. Even as my friends are saying things like “you know you’ll probably cry while we’re filming” I can say “I know, I wrote it in.”

It’s like one day you wake up and your imposter syndrome shifts from “I don’t know if I can even make a movie” to “this movie might suck, but fuck it”. That is one hell of a relief. #ScriptSky

I accidentally told my best friend who I’m forcing to act in my movie that his first line of dialogue is “you look really stupid right now” and now he’s obsessed with “practicing” that line. I have made a mistake.

Met with two friends yesterday who I’ve convinced to act in my movie and I’ve been downplaying it so no one gets too stressed, but when they realized I was taking notes on their cadences and interactions, they lit up and started getting into it and wow. That was cool. Let’s do this! #ScriptSky

Welp… I’m back at work (that actually pays me) and it bums me out that I can’t wake up with my scripts and my coffees and do my writing marathons. Now it’s just… an hour or so after my (paying) job before I pass out from exhaustion. #ScriptSky

Yes! I had the idea about a month ago, finished my first draft yesterday, so now all I have to do is… everything else… but, I have until December 30th and as long as my friends show up on the day with their iPhones, we’re gonna be alright!

I know I’m late to the party, but I just saw Sinners. Perfect movie. My only note is to my friend who spoiled a major plot point for me after I told him I’d been avoiding reading/watching anything on it because I knew it was going to be great and I wanted to be in the right headspace to receive it.

And no. As I’ve told the internet, I really DO NOT want to read the OJ trial transcript.
