Remember that when the news overstates crowds or amplifies support for rhetoric you know to be hateful. Remember it when laws and policies shift backward. In the long run, injustice can’t endure forever and will not prevail.

But here’s the truth: it never truly will. It may appear dominant for a moment, for a season, but goodness and love always prevail in the end…

I know it can sometimes feel as though the other side is gaining traction and momentum, that darkness is somehow prevailing in society…

“Democracy is a fairytale now” America we had it all. We could’ve continued to have it all. My grief for this nation is deep!

I’m in the process of acceptance. But damn, I don’t want to.

To blame us for working toward causes, generational wealth, or advancement under those conditions is to ignore the complexity of what it takes to move forward and bring others behind us. Beyoncé and Jay Z are billionaire in world controlled by people who are richer.

We show up, make the connections, and then retreat to our safe spaces and quietly debrief how miserable we were. That’s life in a system we’re trying to navigate and change...

Most people understand this in theory, but Black professionals grasp it immediately and viscerally. We’ve all had to attend galas, fundraisers, and boardrooms alongside people we would never invite into our homes. It’s the uncomfortable and sometimes necessary reality of having a seat at the table..

I’m not saying it’s impossible; I’m simply asking whether it’s probable.

I carry the painful experience of being familiar with two Black men, particularly in my college years who succumbed to suicide. Not one of those men chose to hang themselves and neither of them did it in a public square. #TreyReed

Over 60 years later, their names call us not just to mourn but to build a world where children are safe in sacred spaces, where hate does not win, and where love replace violence and hate.
