The good folks @porchlightcnd.bsky.social provide students in grades 1-8 with tools and techniques to deal with anxiety and maintain positive mental health trough their Taming the Dragon program. The program needs to secure more funding to continue. Please consider donating if you're able.

Lest We Forget, the November 11th is set aside each year to remember those who've fought and been lost through service to Canada.

This year, as in past years, Porchlight will be laying a wreath at the Cenotaph in Queen's Square. A small act of Remembrance for those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Structural racism, inequality, and the deletion of Black history remain urgent challenges. Emancipation Day is not only a moment to commemorate freedom, but a call to action.

This day celebrates the freedom of over 800,000 enslaved African people, including those who were once held in bondage inside modern-day Canada.

On August 1, we observe Emancipation Day, marking the 1834 implementation of the Slavery Abolition Act that ended chattel slavery throughout the British Empire.
