I never figured out how to β€œgut” a book & felt it would spoil the surprise to skip to the end. Maybe non-traditional scholarsβ€”we who return to learning later in lifeβ€”over-valorize reading for delight.

My advisor laughed at me, but didn’t show me a way to read differently. This essay shows the way!
