Yes! We orchestrated this change in our elder’s home this summer due to concerns about memory and gas stoves…..but up until now hadn’t been worried about our usually overly cautious kiddo!

Things I discovered this morning:

Kiddo, age almost 8, knows he is not supposed to boil water on the gas stove without supervision.
He did not apply the same logic to making scrambled eggs, aka frying eggs in oil.

(He was successful, but it was quite a surprise at 5 am!)

Once you have a good reliable snowblower, it’s also just such an easy way to build community too!

We have an Ego Single Stage.
We already had one battery because of our lawnmower, and bought a second one, which allows us all the snowblowing capacity we need. We got it at the Ace on Nicollet!

(Also, there is great joy in being the snowblower guy!).

We had a few years of not having a snowblower guy after Herb died, when we had a toddler and life was too full.

Last year we looked at the cost of a snow removal contract and bought an electric snowblower instead.

So now our house has the snowblower guy, and I like to think that Herb approves.

When we moved into this house, our next door neighbor, who was in his 80s, was the snowblower guy.

Herb, may he rest in peace, used a snowblower that was the size of a Smart car, and which was older than me, which he kept running by dint of his exceptional mechanic skills.

Delighted to report that my less online spouse is cheerfully embracing his identity as the snowblower guy (non-gendered) for our block.

We play spoons with my cousins and it’s a full body sport but no fighting allowed.
