Last month, the Locating Bench Marks, Preserving Heritage team visited Poolbeg Lighthouse, where height measurement in Ireland began. The pivot bench mark (20.9 ft above sea level) aligns with the 1837 OS datum, used nationwide until replaced by Malin Headβs Portmore Pier in the late 20th century.
