(that's not to say you can't stylize anything! i've stylized my hooks section with quotes instead of titles, but do it too much and it reaches a point where your carrd is too esoteric for people to get a good idea of the char. that *can* be a filter, not a problem, but it'll limit your rp circle!)

i'm also in camp substance over style for the above reason: remember the intent behind a carrd! there are some really cool and well-designed carrds out there that unfortunately don't actually tell the reader anything about the character, or just not enough to decide if they wanna rp with them.

i also think that intent matters in carrd design! every element i have in mine carries some degree of intent. i haven't listed anri's sexuality, marital status, birthplace, etc because those, in my opinion, are not immediately relevant for a first interaction with a complete stranger.

i generally look at people's ooc sections before i check out the rest, because if i'm not going to get along with a person, it doesn't matter how well-written their character is. there are ppl with disclaimers like "Don't Force Your IRL Politics On My Fantasy Game" and that's just such a red flag.

i've approached this with the mentality that i want people to make an educated decision on whether they want to roleplay with my character, i.e. backstories, while neat to read, largely don't tell you what they're like in a real scene. the tropes are a recent addition!

horace is the chocobo version of a destrier, and more importantly, his breed is primarily intended for roegadyn riders. he's big as far as chocobos in general go, but normal-sized compared to chocobos of the same breed.

voidsent and monsters. there probably isn't a single bestiary anri didn't go through, which helps her a lot these days because she can recognize behaviors, identify weak spots and more in most murderous things out there. on the inside, she still beams when she recognizes sth she'd read.
