At the time I was working we counted EVERY vote cast on a double blind random machine.

I worked in a NY county BOE as a machine tech in 2010-11. We did a random hand count audit of 1 of 13 ED. (Small county) Every ballot that was cast in that district was hand counted and triple checked against the machine.
