True story.

We placed a dictator in charge.

Who then terrorised the Iranian people for a quarter of a century.

The U.S. and Britain got 40% of their oil fields.

It really sucks that I’m spending the last days of humanity with a bad mood.

I hope I can find a way to improve my mood so I can go out on a high.

Thank God for weed.

I’m sure the new guy running Homeland Security will be such a huge improvement.

This country is like a kid in a car being driven by a drunk parent.

Whenever I hear people tell me to not let the state of the world bring me down, I automatically assume they’re Trump voters. Because my Trump supporting relatives tell me the same exact thing.

The fact that they actually want to listen to an expert on an issue like the environment? And actually doing what he says? Idiocracy is one of the most inspiring, most naively hopeful films about humanity I’ve ever seen.

I agree. Thats why Idiocracy is so important. It has so much hope that people are way kinder than they actually are.

Mike Judge’s belief that humanity can actually ever get better is inspiring. And also pretty naive. He really thinks humanity is kinder and more willing to grow than it actually is. For a smart guy, he can be pretty dumb sometimes.

And the fact that they want to help the environment by growing crops? What a lovely thought.

Again. Even for a movie that came out during Bush’s 2nd term, it’s naively hopeful about humanity’s ability to give a shit about the environment.

It’s also really wholesome that even though everyone’s stupid, they still want to follow someone smarter than them who actually has their best interests at heart.

This movie seriously thinks people will continue listening to experts. How cute is that.

For one thing, it’s so adorable how it assumes humanity will still be around in 2505. Even though this movie came out during the last time America had an idiot Republican President and started a stupid war with the Middle East, it still had so much faith humanity would survive that long. Adorable.

I watched Idiocracy for the first time. I was expecting this to be a deeply cynical film about humanity. I don’t think it’s cynical at all. In fact, I’d dare say it’s way more optimistic about humanity than humanity deserves.

George Carlin was right about everything. Life is so much easier when you give up on waiting for a good outcome for humanity. Let it do what it’s going to do, and just sit back, relax, and enjoy the show.

I honestly don’t even know what to believe anymore.

My Mom and America both shot themselves in the head. I did everything I could to stop them. I did everything I could to help them both see the light. But it wasn’t enough. Both of them decided to pull the trigger.

Last year, the Lilo & Stitch remake and the Zootopia sequel both grossed over a billion dollars, while Elio, literally the only original movie released under the Disney banner last year, flopped.

GO SEE HOPPERS, people! If Hoppers flops too, Disney might never make another original movie again.

I used to imagine the future being like Star Trek.

These days, I imagine it being like Terminator, Mad Max, THX-1138, and Idiocracy.

To anyone who tells me I’m being too cynical or posting “doomerism”, please answer me this question.

How did Donald Trump go from 62 million votes in 2016 to 73 million votes in 2020 despite fumbling a pandemic? And how did he get to 77 million votes in 2024?

Or is math also “doomerism”?

At this point, anytime someone tells me that the future is still bright, that Trump can be defeated, and that the majority of people are decent, I feel like I’m being gaslit.

Democrats and Republicans may fight all the time. But in the end, they always unite over one thing:

As I get older, I understand Dante from Clerks when he said Empire is better than Jedi because it ends on such a down note. The best movies end on down notes.

Because that’s what life is. A series of down endings.

My Dad said that Trump was mentioned in the files because he was the one who kicked Epstein out of Mar A Largo. And that Trump never went to Epstein Island.

It doesn’t matter what Trump does. People like my Dad will still support him. All 77 million of them. And counting.

I tried educating them too. But it didn’t matter. None of it mattered.

I literally risked my life to help Kamala Harris get elected. And it made no difference. Nevada still went Red.

People love Trump. They love his policies. They love him. We just have to accept it.

I’ve thought about ending my life many times. Even before Trump.

These days I wonder if I even made the right choice to stick around.

No they don’t.

They just laugh when I bring it up to them. They still defend Trump, and they still act like my side is the wrong one.

Even if Trump does something indefensible, my Dad will say “Well, it’s your sides fault for running a vegetable like Joe Biden for President.”

I think that’s the difference between me and a lot of liberals.

I live with Trump voters. They’re my own family. They support Trump no matter what he says or does.

They’re educated people too. They have PhDs.

And people like my parents believe him.

Before my Mom killed herself, she would accuse my side of being hateful and angry, and that we hate America.

It didn’t matter how many times I told her it wasn’t true. She refused to believe me.

I voted for Kamala Harris. I voted for Hillary, Biden, and Harris. I voted against Trump all 3 times.

I told leftists that Palestinians wanted Kamala to win!

Their response as to accuse me of supporting genocide.

I did all I could. And it wasn’t enough.

Even if Trump and MAGA did cheat in 2024, you do realize it won’t matter, right?

We spent four years making fun of MAGA for believing Biden cheated. If we say Trump cheated, they’ll laugh in our face and call us hypocrites.

What’s even the point anymore? They won. We lost. It’s over.

I know Trump voters. They’re in my family.

I have told them for 10 years that their party has neo Nazis. They always laugh in my face and tell me I’m being ridiculous and reading too much crap online.

Once you stop giving a fuck about the fate of humanity and accept that we’re all doomed, life is much easier to navigate.
