Ah, it's still a fun film! I love the visuals for everything, the soundtrack, the rollerblades, the fashion.

Rewatching Hackers for the first time in years. Needed a nice wash of nostalgia to soothe the beast.

Clip from the linked article, reading: Use of the CRA can sweep aside years of public input and environmental review, short-circuiting usual regulatory processes. For example, in the Boundary Waters, the 20-year mining ban was created in 2023, after an extensive study and public survey by the U.S. Forest Service found that mining in the area would create irreparable environmental damage. Overturning this public land order would provide mining companies with unprecedented access to 225,000 acres in the Superior National Forest. Allowing copper mining in this watershed would threaten the area’s $540 million recreation and tourism economy. Copper sulfide mining produces sulfuric acid β€” essentially battery acid β€” that could flow into nearby streams or groundwater, potentially contaminating the system of 1,000 interconnected lakes in the BCWA.

Another clip from the linked article, reading: Furthermore, an independent peer-reviewed study by economists at Harvard University examined the proposed Boundary Waters mining plan across 72 different economic scenarios over a 20-year window. Their findings were stark: in 89% of scenarios, the net economic value of allowing copper-nickel mining in the Superior National Forest would be negative, meaning the losses to recreation and tourism would outweigh the mining jobs created.

While we're at it, let me bring your attention to H.J.Res.140. In Jan, congress introduced a way to open the protected Boundary Waters in MN to a Chilean copper mining co. If this loophole works, they can use to sell off ANY public land.

A federal and state forest map of the state of oregon.

A federal and state forest map of the state of oregon.

Look at this map. Anything green is on the chopping block.
This would be a fundamental and irrevocable change to the entire natural ecology of the this state.
Devastating.

I don't know what the new war will mean for the world or what to do about it. I'm just angry, scared, and tired of closing my mouth around an unspoken "we fucking told you" to other Americans. As things continue to fall apart I'm still trying to find ways to help while keeping housed, fed, and sane.

just became aware of this--the regime wants to clear-cut massive chunks of Oregon's old growth forests in the name of timber production.

you have until March 23rd to comment.

i know we have endless fucking things to scream at politicians about--this is an important one too.

Wanted to post these together because I can see improvement in a KIND of linear way. First (blue) is most recent.
The middle one is an outlier because I had artists coaching me with edits. The third was a year ago and before things started to click.

This is my second favorite piece ever and I want more people to see it. This took MONTHS to make so I literally can’t afford to make this kind of stuff often. If you wanna see more of this idk, let me know or buy a print.

On the note of funds, this guy could still use a home and frankly at this point just about any money to put into rent would be welcome, so any remotely feasible offer I would accept to pass ’em on.

Digital drawing of silhouetted F35 jet dropping four Mark-84 bombs (also known as 2,000-lb bombs), black on an intense red background. The jet is in the upper quarter of the image, pointing left on a slight upward diagonal. The bomb closest to the jet is almost parallel to it, and each subsequent bomb is progressively larger, and slightly more rotated than the one above it. On the silhouette of the jet and the two largest bombs are these words in white block letters: β€œSTOP THE U.S. WAR MACHINE.” The β€œS” in β€œU.S.” has been substituted with a U.S. dollar-sign.

For anyone near a fire, stay away and let first responders do their job. Looky-loos create obstacles for firefighters, and casualties if things get worse.

Beef was already a very rare item on our household menu, and now we probably cook it at a frequency of six or seven times in a year maybe? In general, we are just eating a lot less meat because of the cost. My burger loving husband is pretty bummed about it actually.
