Designer of many rectangles at Loud Room, a funsized design consultancy. I love and geek out on books, pencils, horror movies, fonts, smart quotes, photography, and games — both video and tabletop. I live and work in Philadelphia under a pile of books.
Yay! Thank you!

I also wrote a bit more about my hopes for Loud Room and the site I made for it:

I wish a small sliver of the money being thrown at AI would go towards my music app not offering holiday music weeks after Christmas or tanking my recommendations if I play a couple songs for my kids. 🙃

And @danmall.bsky.social shared a beautiful remembrance of John Langdon, who was his typography professor in college. It was Dan who introduced me to John. He had such a love of letters, it makes sense he taught and shared that with others.

This somehow makes me feel a little better! Thanks ❤️

07.01.2026 14:07 — 👍 4 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0I spilled two full gallons of wall paint on our floor last night when the box they were in ripped. Thankfully it was on wood and somehow didn’t get on anything else nearby. Just a huge puddle to sop up. I couldn’t stop saying “oh no!” over and over. 0 out of 5 stars, would not recommend.

Loving Rob Weychert’s latest article about using variable fonts to achieve consistent stroke widths across type and screen sizes. And he extends it to icons, making them feel like part of the same system, something I’ve always struggled with. Excited to try this!

I got to work with him years ago on a logo project and had a blast. He was warm, funny, and so kind with his knowledge. Rest in peace 💜

I just heard about John Langdon’s passing last week. He’s best known for his amazing ambigrams, but was also an incredibly skilled draftsman and student of type history.

At the end of every year I’m convinced that it was worse than the last. I realize these distinctions in time are imaginary, but this year felt so much heavier both personally and in the world.
I’m happy for these moments with family and friends when I get them. Happy holidays to you and yours! 💜
A type specimen using my font Citywide in various weights and widths. White type on a red background reads: Mussels, Scallops, Smelts, Baccala, Shrimp, Anchovy, and Calamari
A little Citywide sample as I look forward to celebrating the Feast of the Seven Fishes with my family tomorrow night. The menu is different for every family, but this is usually ours 🐟

I know it’s not going to last, but I want to appreciate this brief window of time when some companies are pay-gating their unwanted AI features while keeping core functionality the same price or free. Thank you!

🎉 @kellianderson.bsky.social sits down with Adam Savage to talk about her new book, Alphabet in Motion. It’s part pop-up book and part history of letterforms. Kelli is one of my favorite designers, such a great combination of skill and joy in everything she makes.
