"Art would not be important if life were not important, life is important."
The entire Republican Party has lined up solidly behind a would-be fascist dictator with a narcissistic psychopathic personality disorder. But the real problem is that Democrats spent too long backing a president who often looked and sounded old.

Without our voices, how will people understand the scope and generational consequences of the ongoing destruction?

UPDATE: We have data on >1000 terminated #NSF grants at grant-watch.us. Thanks to all who have been contributing data the past few days.
We've also added a "Reports" section with some analyses. For NSF, we see that the STEM education directorate has been absolutely pummeled.

20.04.2025 00:43 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The NYT wants you to think universities became dependent on government. This is false.
The government invested in the national research infrastructure by competitive grants to universities. The taxpayers built this. It got us to the moon. Won the Cold War. Created Silicon Valley. Made the McRib.
I wrote about this a bit in my last book but it really shakes me that a defining feature of this catastrophic era is that we just keep going to work. We work through pandemics, we work through natural disasters, we work through economic calamity, we work through coups, we work, we work, we work.

Wrap it in a body bag, tie it at the knees, dump it in the Boston Harbor? Deposit it into a savings account under my husband's name? Crush it with my bare feet, ferment it in oak barrels, drink it alone? Paint my nails with it, shiny, black, expensive, sharpened to points? Or bestow it, carefully (a fragile inheritance cradled against my chest) upon my daughters? β Franzi Roesner
May someone find value in my angry feminist post-election poem, appearing today in @themarbledsigh.bsky.social 's political poetry anthology.
