Also in the positive column I finally played through “the last of us” in half an hour intervals between, work, dad duty, guitar practice and sleep. My god is that astounding piece of storytelling. What a treasure. I sad and scary treasure.

It’s a good lesson for me to resist the urge to assume bad intent automatically. It is like my brain gets highjacked. I do take time to craft responses that I hope will end somewhere good. It’s nice we got there :)

I got the impression you were referencing my image since you quote posted it. I default to the blank page for all skin tones in b/w work as it affords me more rendering options that assist storytelling. I pay attention to rendering nuances of facial features because I do want people to feel seen.

Ugh. The internet sucks so much sometimes. The way many people engage with things feels so icky, baiting & sanctimonious. No thanks.

…but on the flip side the new Superman movie was great. My sister babysat for us and it was worth every minute away from our little buddy.

Mad Max: Fury Road. When the flare on the ground went out, and the screen went dark, and the movie was actually quiet for a few moments so everyone could catch their breath after the non stop chaos…one lone guy just exclaimed “JESUS CHRIST”.

It is. The characters feel like they each have dimension and motivation; no small thing in just 20 pages. Thanks for making a long standing story ish come true :)

One of the more amazing things about Mad Max: Fury Road is the way it men and women communicate.

Max is reduced to grunts for half the film. The war boys mostly only scream catchphrases. The worse their situation, the less men talk. At their best, they mostly bluster and communicate little.

I love that it was too hard to draw stereoscopic cartoon images, so the people behind the Viewmaster just commissioned little hand-sculpted dioramas of Disney/Looney Tunes/Hanna-Barbera cartoon scenes instead.
