β€œ3 AM”
giclΓ©e art print

It’s 3 AM in suburbia and someone is still awake. A silhouetted cat sits on a windowsill behind open blinds peering out at a mysterious nighttime world. This is her favourite post in the house. From here she can look out over the expansive lawn and clipped hedges. Her humans have long since gone to bed. There is streetlight shinning on the house, hedges and lawn. She’s hoping to see something - anything - move about in the shadows. She listens intently for any rustle in the leaves, snap of a twig, or scampering over the grass. For now, all is silent except for the faint rush of a passing car. The night belongs to her.

I've drawn this in ballpoint pen in a very fine, wispy cross-hatching style trying to achieve that vague, mysterious tonality seen at that hour. I take a lot of walks late at night, and this is a home l've passed several times, complete with the lit window. I always imagine a cat sitting there, and the beauty is that I can make it so.

This is a companion piece of sorts with β€œThe Yearning for Adventure”, also available in my Etsy shop.

You are a handsome fellow with a distinct voice. Everyone loves you. I'd watch Lieber content all day. Just you rapping about the wire for hours on end would be a repeat watch.

Holy cow. I'd follow that cat into battle.

I definitely hear them in the wild but they don’t tend to be things we collectively accept as fitting in with typical language. I think they stand out and that’s mostly what I mean about how they don’t β€œspend” like better phrases

Exactly! If I ever meet a person who tells me, with a straight face, that they are going to drop hot takes, claps between every word or uses the phrase β€œlives in my head rent free” then I know I’m gonna need a stick to bight on until our interaction is over.

I just realized that the reason I find many common Internet phrases tedious is that they don’t transfer to the real world. I don’t hear them used outside social media except as a joke. They’re like prize tickets that only work in the worst arcade on earth.

Storm coast in Dragon age inquisition.

Storm coast in Dragon age inquisition.

Emerald Graves wowed me. I like the storm coast with the basalt. Reminds me of Oregon.

I kept getting my butt kicked in the descent DLC. My friend @hobbityaga.bsky.social told me to wait on that until the end. She was the person who suggested I give inquisition a spin. I should probably revisit it!

Fantasy is my favorite genre. Maybe it's the way the combat was done; I'm not used to the top-down pause and point type of playing. I did like Scout Harding but they wouldn't let me romance her. All of my team seemed displeased half of the time.

Do you have a favorite landscape?

21.02.2026 01:27 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Nice! I loved the environments a lot but I just didn't feel affection for any of my party members. I did play it all the way through and I made a Qunari (mage) as well. Do you think I missed something that made my experience less satisfying than most folks I see? So many people love it so much!

Cover Thumbnails in black and white. the first is a dog with a toy in his mouth. Ninjas fight behind him on the roof. The second is a dragon hovering over a suburban street. Only a foreground dog on a walk notices. The third is a dog happily jumping through a fire hop made by a mystical martial artist. The last is the sketch that became the final: dog tussles with a dragon in a dreamscape above a happy sleeping dog.

Dog dreams of playing with a dragon (represented above him) while sleeping in a bed. The pattern on the bed resembles the scales of the dragon.

Here's a cover I did for my buddy, @chrissamnee.bsky.social's book Firepower. I like to draw dogs and he knows that.

I joined @helioscopepdx.bsky.social where a bunch of freelancers pooled resources, avoided isolation, encouraged each other & it was amazing.

I bought a house/had a kid & built a backyard studio out of a carport. Took me 8.5 years but it’s great. When I feel alone I make trips back to helioscope.

That was one of the most razor sharp moments in late night comedy ever and I agree with the current context too.

Zing em’ Norm!

Thank you! Someone of your skill saying that is very encouraging. I definitely felt lucky to get more than one issue. They haven’t inquired about my availability since so it might end up being the only long form thing I ever do for Marvel

Oh for the days when I could sit on the floor of the living room and paint atop the coffee table (2017), instead of having to rig up a desk with two lamps and maybe a magnifying glass (now)

Thanks. At this point all I can see is that I had to do it quickly (and the line quality reflects that) but the fundamentals aren't bad! I can just see the better version in my head :)

Some random pages from a Namor story I did five years ago. they are okay! I would definitely do it differently now (more energy, contrast and more solid rendering) but I remember having to go kind of quick on these so I'm somewhat forgiving to my past self. Good to look back and learn :)
