Propaganda - A Secret Wish

I’m surprised to see multiple people say they don’t think this works as a whole, I’ve always found it a delight from start to finish. That said, I do think the LP mix is stronger despite the CD being “definitive”. A real contender for my top 5.

I read it last week; I am a huge fan of ‘Last House on Needless Street’ and ‘Looking Glass Sound’ is possibly my favorite book of the last 10 years. This one wasn’t quite up to those two but it was a lot of fun, enjoy!

Debbie Gibson - Out Of The Blue

It’s the musical equivalent of an episode of ‘Saved By The Bell’ but it scratches a very specific itch incredibly well…and both “Only In My Dreams” and “Foolish Beat” remain incredible singles.

Kind of surprised I haven’t seen this one mentioned yet…unless I’ve missed it, which is a very real possibility.

Still fantastically inventive and a very good time, probably won’t make my Top 5 but one that should get more attention than it does.

I ordered this last night based on your posting about it, can’t wait to dig into it.

I am also listening to this for the first time tonight thanks to the mentions in the #5DebutAlbums8589 poll and it is indeed a lot of fun.

It gets a bit repetitive over the running time but I agree, it has aged VERY well.

KMFDM - What Do You Know, Deutschland?

Early experiments from the future masters of the Disco/Industrial stormer. Not everything here works, but there’s plenty to enjoy and it lays a solid foundation for what was to come a few years later; a fun revisit for sure.

…and because I was listening to The Frogs for #5DebutAlbums8589 I now have to listen to the greatest tribute song of all time.

I like them, I love them, there my favorite band in the whole wide world / They’re sharp dressers, they’re nice guys, they’re on this record on the other siiiide!

Revolting Cocks - Big Sexy Land

My favorite album from Uncle Al if we’re being totally honest. Enough for a top 5 placement? Maaaaaybe.

I had totally forgotten about these but we definitely ate a lot of them as kids.

It’s funny, my friend group was obsessed with those first two albums and we went to see him all the time in NYC since he always put on an incredible show. Then for some reason, we just stopped. I’ve always meant to dig back and see what we missed, looking forward to your list!

I loved the first two BLBL albums but lost track after that…I had no idea he covered this! What a dream pairing.
