As I'm doing some V-Jump documentation, I learned about Digimon World Re:Digitize Encode, which began in the June 2013 issue. After its 9th chapter, it went digital only. After 22, it went on hiatus. Today, in *2026*, V-Jump's website *still* lists it as on hiatus.

I think “random thing branded as Dragon Ball” has an infinitely higher chance of selling than even “prestige historically important Dragon Quest spinoff manga” tho.

Daizenshuu EX and Kanzentai was the only good merger in the history of mergers.

Just got my Amazon shipping notification for Super manga volume 24…

Dying to see what happens with this Daima set, which is also due out tomorrow. In case you aren’t clued in, Crunchy has scrubbed it from their own online store. Things are going just great over there.

Doing a bunch of Cashman research and history documentation, but happened across this ad for some handheld electronic games in the second issue of V-Jump. Very cool stuff, especially in light of us actually chatting about these specific games during the wiki editing live stream over the weekend!

Two (sad) things can be simultaneously true to this general audience:

It's "real manga", and

It only ultimately matters if and when it gets animated 🙃

Meanwhile, we got... Yamcha Reincarnated? And I guess finally Toriyama's Manga Theater?

I'm looking at a bookshelf with *35* other volumes of MODERN DB MANGA that have come out in Japan... and that's *not counting* things even THEY didn't collect, like Victory Mission(?!), Discross, etc.

We talk about this all the time, but the average American doesn't see Super as "V-Jump twilight years sequel series"; they see "new real Dragon Ball manga on Shonen Jump website".

Simultaneously, there have been tons of manga supporting games like Fusions and FighterZ! Europe gets the Heroes manga!

It's fascinating keeping up with all the larger manga industry shenanigans re: AI slop "translations" & market potential... meanwhile Shueisha (and/or Viz?) have seemed largely uninterested or unable to take on flooding the English-language market with the bazillion Dragon Ball spin-offs that exist.

Missed that this started as a one-shot back in the June issue last year. They do a lot of these, where something that shows up as a one-shot comes back 6-12 months later with a full serialization.
