A ground-level photo looking straight at a desert tortoise. The picture is up close enough that you can't see the entire shell. The tortoise is dark brown and has a fair amount of brown dirt on him. His head is pulled back under his shell and his legs, well armored with thick scales, are tucked back on either side of his face. His serrated beak is visible. He looks grumpy, but that's just the way his face is shaped.

I think they're rather nice, but just fyi. There will also be quality tortoise content, once my desert torts wake up from their winter nap. ๐๐ข
