I keep kicking the can down the road ‘cause it’s not worth fighting for months: my bare minimum health ins will cover an annual blood draw. Finally, I give in and pay 30 bucks to the hospital that is charging me for the shortage that my expensive healthcare coverage won’t cover. Living in paradise.

I watched a documentary last night about the Homo naledi - I’ve watched it two or three more times so far. Archaeologists were cleaning their preserved teeth In a couple of scenes: Mouths that spoke sounds of mourning over a quarter of 1 million years ago.

How much have we really changed?

Who else feels bad about Unsubscribing from a source that is ‘important’ to you?

“Oh I really value their coverage” but I cannot stand their hourly/daily reminders that I need to look at whatever the hell they think is important now.

Nowhere In Particular: Interview with photographer Carlos Perez Carlos Perez’s photographs do not announce themselves loudly. They accumulate meaning through repetition, proximity, and sustained attention. A liquor store shares a building with a post office.

This turned out nice - a few months in the making but a good story about a photographer coming into his own.

Sorry Sen. Young, but those SAT words will trip you up every time: conjecture - forming an opinion or supposition about (something) on the basis of incomplete information.

Her artistic strength lies not just in her masterful choices of traditional and contemporary photographic techniques, but in her persistent pursuit of using her art as a powerful tool for meaningful communication and change…each carefully crafted image connects to viewers personally and globally.

My ex-brother-in-law is a particle physicist. He has worked at Fermi lab and the large Hydron collider in Bern, Switzerland for years. It is hugely fascinating what happens in the tiniest interactions in particle physics. Funny how chasing the ‘god’ particle is old news.

I don’t know about anybody else, but I often think about Edie Brickell and what she’s doing. She married Paul Simon… But she had a kick ass band with the New Bohemians in the late 80s and 90s. What’s up, Edie? How’s it going in 2025?
