Did contact CWGC some time ago to ask about their understanding of Lichens and Biodeterioration of stonework but unsurprisingly received no response. Itโll cost more in the long run to replace headstones damaged or made unreadable by lichen growth. Steam cleaning is a possible solution?

Another image I had saved on an old drive. P-47 pilot Lt Edwin King and his flak damaged P-47. He landed safely, having to be guided down by others from the flight as he had zero visibility, despite losing most of the engine oil. Engine seized after landing apparently, Italy Jan 45

Hill 60, July 1917 aerial showing the effect of shellfire and mines on the landscape. Hard to imagine when visiting the site today, but Lidar image shows the scars of battle remain beneath the vegetation.
Good plan, then at least we can avoid the hordes who rush round to just see this rather disappointing picture to do the compulsory โselfieโ. Better still put it in a separate building!

3. A bit time spent trawling the Etaples graves registration reports on the #cwgc site found A446, Lt. James Thomas Gardiner Davidson, who died 5/7/18, aged 20. He died in an accident whilst test flying a new machine. Son of Mrs. and the late Mr. James W. Davidson, of 919, Ethel St., Verdun, Quebec.
