I just heard Zeldin speak on CNN. Dystopian is the first word that comes to mind. Very weird seeing the EPA only focus on economic issues instead of environment and public health.

A local farm recently lost most of their corn crop due to extreme heat. They also had to cancel a family festival that many look forward to.
Sadly we'll be seeing much more of this in coming years as climate impacts accelerate.

I love the Hubble vs Webb telescope side by sides. What we once thought we knew well, we now know we didn't really even know at all. We learned and are now better for it.
I'd like to see a social sciences version of the same, how we think things are vs how they actually are. Perception vs reality
For all the promise of #ai, I can't get past the environmental impacts and likely widespread layoffs that will follow. If an employer can use AI to do tasks faster and cheaper, they will every time.

Water management will be one of the critical issues of the 21st century. We have risk models for a reason. It's past time to listen to them and plan based on rezoning the highest risk areas.

Cloud bursts scare the hell out of me. We're now seeing them all over the globe. Warmer air holds more water vapor, and the results on the ground are often catastrophic.
Nowhere is built to withstand these volumes but certain areas are especially susceptible.
One of the smartest most respected people I know told me today that she and 2/3 of her team will likely be let go within the next few weeks due to drastic federal budget cuts.
Their work is completely nonpartisan by definition, but it didn't matter. Lunacy.

Praying for a miracle.
I still can't believe that I live in a country where Alligator Alcatraz is a thing, and the most powerful man in the world loves the idea.
Wait, actually yes, I can totally believe it.
$40T in national debt
Electric grid well past its useful life
Stranded and now abandoned capacity
AI about to explode over the next few years and suck massive amounts of power and water
Climate change not just stopping because we're now ignoring it.
Food insecurity spreading
Buckle up
The shuttering of #usaid is a black stain on our history that will cost lives. Thank you to the dedicated and passionate workers who believed in the higher calling of helping those less fortunate than themselves. Your work made a difference.
01.07.2025 14:20 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0#OBBB will cost hundreds of thousands of jobs and billions in needed investment, reduce grid capacity, and make lives harder for those already living paycheck to paycheck. It'll almost surely pass on the next few days and be celebrated by this administration. It shouldn't be.
29.06.2025 14:29 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0We need grid capacity desperately, and should strive for the cleanest and most affordable forms possible. It's not a time to be holding back.
This bill will set us all back.
I just read most of the Senate bill. If this passes it will be a historic step backwards for environmental and public health, not to mention huge losses in investment and jobs for communities around the country, in both red and blue states.
Horribly shortsighted.
