But why would the Giants trade their head coach just after hiring him?

Probably, although the dynamic could change if Spags gets the job and they had a solid relationship at KC.

I think the ideal situation is for Kafka to look like a legit HC and the Giants' version of Kyle Shannahan or Sean McVay. (him bringing back Wink would be fun as hell)

2nd best would be bringing in a defensive HC and let Kafka own the offense to keep continuity for Dart.

But once the Denver game happened and Daboll didn't fire Bowen, the defense was all on Daboll. Between that and how Dart was used, Daboll got fired. Now they're keeping Bowen around (for now) to not put too much on Kafka in the middle of the season.

*COMPLETELY MY OWN SPECULATION*

Daboll has been protecting Bowen because he's "his guy" and argued that he (Bowen) had too many of "Wink's Guys" to be successful last year. That led to Bowen being retained and a metric fuckton of resources being poured into the defense.

The Giants have held the ball for 32:20 so far this game.

The only Brian Johnson anyone should know:

I'm not really upset with Schoen. He hasn't been perfect, but the team has young Franchise players at QB, LT, WR, and EDGE. Talented young players at RB, TE, CB, and S.

The roster is in a good spot, and the cap is fine.

The players aren't executing. But that's on the coaches, not the GM.

I remain significantly more upset that the Giants didn't get Dart a target. He's taken bigger hits waiting for guys to get open than he has running the ball.

Considering the Giants have no need for Mendoza, they'll take No.1 overall. They could use the picks from a trade down, though.

1) Jaxson Dart is so damn twitchy. He's not a burner, but he's got amazing quickness and agility.

2) I really like the Giants incorporating the Pistol into their offense.

The Giants' defense's inattention to details has been killing them since the preseason.

Out of position, poor communication, poor technique and fundamentals. It's stunning to me that Shane Bowen still has a job and I've completely lost confidence that the coaching staff can accurately self-scout.

My hope is that he gets better at matching game speed and staying within structure over the off-season.

Yup, exactly.

I think that's part of the reason why he doesn't often look like a "rookie" in the moment.

His situational awareness and short area quickness are really good, so he can make the chaos work more often than not. So far, anyway.
