Chipping sparrows have been jumping all around my backyard lately. This round little guy made the perfect subject for practicing light and detail as I incorporate a bit of oil painting into my routine.

Last night I squeezed in a quick paint on Teacup in Sedona — a fast-and-loose study of Thunder Mountain before sunset. Kept things pretty abstract since I only had about 45 minutes before I had to hustle home to beat the dark.

Beautiful and dramatic day out on Vultee. I had to hide my painting from raindrops for a few minutes but otherwise I really enjoyed the dramatic skies and lighting.

One other thing I wasn’t aware of when I first joined is that you can add a short description to each image for folks using screen readers (also can impact seo etc). I use the setting you can enable to warn you before you post without alt text.
