When the ranch was sold in 2017, the Brislawns quietly put out a call for help. Several groups, including Return to Freedom, stepped up to provide new homes for 150 mustangs.

The group came from the Cayuse Ranch, founded in 1916 by Wyoming homesteader Bob Brislawn. For decades, the ranch was home to some of the original bloodlines of the horses brought to the Americas by early Spanish explorers.

🟤 The White House Budget Office is threatening broad layoffs if there’s a shutdown. That could affect wild horse management and other important public lands programs.

🟤 Roundups would be paused, like the helicopter roundup on the Devil’s Garden Plateau Wild Horse Territory in Northern California, where 255 wild horses have been captured and seven killed.

🟤 Bureau of Land Management personnel would continue caring for the more than 62,000 wild captured wild horses and burros living in off-range government holding facilities.

Our satellite sanctuary is peaceful and beautiful even during the driest times of the year on the Central Coast. More than 65 #wildhorses and 23 burros roam 2,000 acres of rolling hills and oak trees there.

It will shut down the foreign slaughter pipeline as well as impose a lasting ban on horse slaughter here at home.

The positive news: Five more members of Congress have signed on to co-sponsor a ban horse slaughter, bringing the total to 166.

The negative: 12,194 American #horses were shipped out of the country for slaughter through July — up 25.3% from last year. Take action in replies.
