Her novel Diaries I Have Nothing to Do With was nominated for the 2024 International Prize for Arabic Fiction, and her latest book, With All My Faces, is her first work published in German.

She has held international residencies, including ICORN (Poland), @pendeutschland (Germany), and the @scholarrescuefund (USA), and is currently based in Graz.
She has published four books in Arabic, translated into over ten languages.

Charaf draws on her Druze roots as a connection to place, history, and community, without following a sectarian identity. Her work explores memory, trauma, exile, and resistance.

Currently, @u_jazdowski is hosting AR-Resident @CHARAF.KHOLOUD — a Syrian poet, novelist, and human rights advocate focusing on the protection of women and children. She’s been living in exile since 2018.

Beyond its long-standing commitment to artistic development, Ujazdowski has also shown strong solidarity with artists in crisis, offering emergency residencies for those displaced or endangered by conflict.

The program provides a flexible, non-pressured environment for experimentation, research, and dialogue—encouraging artists to engage deeply with local contexts and develop innovative practices.

With a mission to foster international collaboration and creative exchange, its renowned residency program has hosted over 300 artists and curators from around the world since 2002.

She studied at the Transcarpathian Academy of Arts and recently completed a course in new media at Photinus, expanding her creative expression into new forms.

Born in 2004 in Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine, Pelishenko has lived and worked in Uzhhorod since 2015. Her artistic practice spans various media and techniques, serving as a means to explore her identity and the social and cultural contexts that shape her environment.

The award working group is chaired by Professor Jukka Mönkkönen from the University of Eastern Finland.

Canth’s legacy as a champion of equality and progressive thought is honored every year in Finland on Minna Canth Day.

This new timely prize was initiated and funded by @genelec_oy, @olvi_foundation, @saastamoinenfoundation, and the @saastopankki_optia.

Minna Canth (1844–1897) was a Finnish writer, journalist, and social activist who fought for women’s rights, education, and social equality. She was one of the first major female voices in Finnish literature and a pioneer of social realism.

We’re proud to share this nomination with such inspiring changemakers carrying forward Minna Canth’s legacy of courage, equality, and social progress. 💛

The award will be decided by a jury chaired by author @sirpakahkonen, joined by Suzanne Innes-Stubb, Dr. Sixten Korkman, Hanna Klinge, and Siamäk Naghian. The winner will be announced on Minna Canth Day, 19 March 2026.

A total of 137 individuals and organisations were nominated for this new national recognition celebrating work that advances democracy, equality, freedom of expression, and education. We congratulate all the nominees for their valuable work!
