frankly whether she's hypothetically attracted to women or not is honestly irrelevant to that, and probably the least of her problems

'taylor is gay'
'taylor is straight'
'taylor's entire sense of self is so carefully constructed within the constraints of normative identity that she is desperate to make it everyone else's problem how much she can't quite convince herself that she enjoys the boring missionary sex she has w her guy'

One time I was trying to figure out why a bit character in Legends of Tomorrow looked familiar, and then I remembered I went to high school with her

It’s weird remembering actors are real life people

Indecent assault is a legal term to describe sexual assault, as opposed to regular assault, which would just be attacking physically like punching someone, etc.

"The tight-laced corset without a chemise is artistic license! It’s not meant to be historically accurate!”

I'm aware, but 'oppressive tightlaced corsets’ is a trope done to death so thoroughly, that I find it a fairly reliable sign that the storyteller has nothing else unique or interesting to say

One of Britain’s most senior police officers has launched an angry tirade against Extinction Rebellion protesters going β€œall floppy” when they get arrested.

Sir Stephen House, the deputy commissioner of the Metropolitan police, said the tactic of going limp was a β€œflipping nuisance” as it required extra officers to drag protesters away.

House told a London assembly police and crime committee hearing: β€œWe have asked them to stop being floppy. And that might seem like a silly thing to say, but when we arrest them and pick them up, they go all floppy, which is why you see four or five officers carrying them away. It’s a complete waste of officers’ time, and a complete pain in the neck.”

House also expressed annoyance at how the tactic made the police look heavy-handed. He said: β€œThe problem with them going floppy and four offices carrying them away [is that it] looks to the general public like police are overreacting here. We’re not making them go floppy. They’re just sort of being a nuisance.”

This gets progressively funnier with every use of the term "floppy".

A screenshot of Facebook comments. The first, from somebody named Marcella, says "Wake up America! The encroachment is insidious and dangerous to our ideals and beliefs."

In reply, Soren says "That's why we turned French when they started offering French classes, right?"

Replying to Soren, somebody named Ken says "The French don't have a record of colonizing and conquering countries; and forcing their culture on the natives. Arabs do."

People are melting down at a Tribune article about CHSD 230 considering adding Arabic to its language learning electives. I wasted time in the comments, which I normally avoid doing since it's useless and awful, but it led to possibly the funniest thing anybody's ever said to me about France.

Part of me still really loves the show, and the books, flawed as they both are, but my heart just aches too much when I even think about engaging with them.

Air Canada's CEO admitting to the media that their entire plan for the flight attendants' strike was "have the government say they're not allowed" and that they have no other ideas about how to deal with the strike is really a "yeah this is how Canada REALLY works" moment if ever there was one
