That's a nice summary, and probably how I mostly play.

I'm wondering if there's some growth to be had by giving away clues more readily without rolls if players ask the right questions.

So In this case it would be the player (not the PC) solving the mystery, but you have the dice to fall back on if the difficulty of the puzzle, or limits of storytelling, means they can't find the clues on their own?

If I'm running an investigative #ttrpg, should I:

- Reward players with clues if they ask clever questions?
- Reward players with clues when they roll well?

Is one of these an investigation and the other playing at investigation?
How do I balance these two ideas?

3) It’s dangerous to go alone

It’s not surprising that the people that managed to complete the challenge were the same ones hanging around the Discord, chatting to each other every day. By creating community, they gave themselves a reason to come back and engage.

2) The best response to a bad day is to have a good day

Everyone is going to have bad days. The best response to having had one day is to make sure that we have a good day the day after. Getting us back on track.
