Yes, excellent film. Worth seeing

Several great blue herons lined up along the edge of a large industrial dock. The heron closest to the viewer is in crisp focus, and the herons behind it get progressively blurrier. Most of them are facing in the same direction as the bird in front, looking out across the dock, which has a few large pipes running along its length. Taken at Ballard Locks.

A photo from today's walk. I sometimes get my ducks in a row, but this is the first time I've managed to get my herons in a row.

Yes think that is it. The Ashley bid was 20m. Concern is that with so much needing to be spent on stadium and players it might be better to take the points hit for next season and build to come back up in 2 years

Would be seriously bad news. Was listening to Price of Football podcast today and they seem to think that whoever it is, the bid will not be enough to prevent a 15 point deduction next season. ridiculous that Chansiri gets preferential treatment ahead of local creditors

The thing about these redundancy programmes is that they never stop. There will be round after round leaving the institution with a much reduced portfolio and a handful of staff at their wits end trying to do 5 people's jobs.

And is anyone surprised. The sheer greed of most of these people, lining their pockets whilst presiding over the decline of the HE sector

At a time when staff in HE really need their unions to be effective the issues raised here are appalling. The mismanaged pay campaign of 2-3 years ago, based on institutions having enough money to make the requested pay award has been a contributing factor to the current mess the sector is in.

As you can tell, I am not missing it !!

Well -an ever vicious & diminishing circle caused by government policy and incompetent HE senior leaders which has led to ever increasing demands with ever less resource to deliver at student level. In the meantime more buildings that will never be used go up, and exec teams expand and get paid more

And is often sold to them on the basis that they will never have to pay it back

Earlier Heads are better , in my view. Fear of Music, More Songs about Buildings and Food and Remain in Light are all superb albums

One of the unexpected delights of last year was seeing Tracey Thorn and Ben Watt perform live after such a long time, so it was a great way to start 2026 gigs with them last night. Magical stuff

At this point in time I have absolutely no idea what is true anymore 🤷‍♂️

Worth following some of these. I will rarely agree with things they say but we all need to listen, and I mean listen, to alternative views.

Fear this sort of thing is true in just about every corner of HE, if it involves funding or league table positions. The amount of effort, and staff time involved is considerable, (speaking from personal experience).

The only downside to that is you
then see the same post multiple times. Have actually stopped following some accounts as that is all they do.

I think someone summed it up by saying the difference is that AI has no sense of humour, (not intentional anyway). Humans, mostly, do.
