🚨 It looks like the UK government is gearing up to upend copyright law in favour of AI companies, legalising the theft of their work.
This is despite creatives' huge protests, and despite previous proposals being roundly rejected by the public.
Please spread the word.

All politicians everywhere should stand on a platform of seizing, trying, and permanent solitary confinement for every senior person in the US administration, military and intelligence services.

Allowing British bases to be used in an illegal war of aggression is a catastrophic and historic mistake.
Britain has been dragged into another war because our Prime Minister would rather appease Donald Trump than stand up for international law.

This is exactly the sort of line that justifies any other country in the world killing this man and everyone like him. It's the only way to be safe.

Today, US & Israeli forces bombed the Gandhi Children’s Hospital in Iran’s capital of Tehran.
Nurses supposedly risked their lives carrying newborns to safety from the rubble.
I’m having trouble finding more reporting about this, but here is at least a blurb from Reuters:

There is nothing "defensive" about helping the US invaders launch "strikes" (mass murder) on Iran.
If we just wanted to stop missiles, why haven't we been letting Iran use our bases to stop Israeli missiles all this time?
We're just joining yet another war of murderous aggression.

Exclusive: Britain mulls ban on Israeli settlement goods
Labour MPs tell MEE the government must urgently implement the sanction
A reminder that the UKG was rumored to have been considering a ban on settler goods as recently as November, but the decision rests with Starmer.

Shouldn't really surprise anyone anymore but it is interesting that Israeli officials are just outright threatening to destroy Beirut International Airport if Hezb "gets involved" and this doesn't permeate Western media

Hope this series does for water what the Post Office drama did for Horizon victims.
The scandal of privatised water is even bigger because it affects everyone.
The common theme is clear: powerful corporate entities are exploiting us all.
Time to bring water back into public ownership.

Nowhere in the western world has the corporate and right-wing war on higher education and graduates' earnings been as successful as the UK (aided by a succession of useless governments driven by corporate and donor "pressure" and conflicts).

Playgrounds would become crack dens if greens were in power policing minister says.
Drug deaths have risen every year for 13 years.
That’s 13 years of a failed “war on drugs”.
Labour should be looking at legalisation, control and regulation - not playing politics with people’s lives.
This is a public health crisis. Treat it like one. Not a game.

Wonderful insights.
Something you may have missed is the minimum income requirement for £12,570 for 3-5 years, which effectively bars about 50% of spouses of British citizens (and also visa dependents in some different proportion) from settlement indefinitely.

Nearly a year into many trans people in the UK being forced to use disabled toilets or asked to work from home pending legal advice and stuff and I haven't seen a single "Izzy's boss told her she has to use a disabled toilet, here's how she feels about it" piece in the papers.

Not only is this yet another mess from the Home Office which potentially ruins lives and costs the victims of the cockup to try and rectify it, but also, it has to be factored in that the USA is just not a safe country to return trans people too.

The landing page for Yog-Sothoth.com. “We are permanently closed.”
Today marks the end of an era, with the closure of Yog-Sothoth.com after 28(?) years.
I first found it soon after it started, in 1998, while I was in grad school. When they started up forums, I was member 98. I was a moderator there for close to 2 decades.

Also note the way that the burden is always, always placed upon the left; the right must be catered to, the center must be appealed to, the left? Suck it up, accept whatever is offered, perform the labor of care and capitulation and compromise.
A familiar dynamic.

About one of the Trump accusers in this piece:
“The interview [with the alleged victim and her attorney] was conducted July 24, 2019, and entered into the FBI’s case files on August 9, the day before Epstein was found dead in his jail cell.”

I no longer know my annual income because I have an hourly paid contract with part time hours that have changed several times, and pay gets spread out to provide ongoing income in the summer when I have no work.
Wonder if I can find some work this summer.

Yeah, I knew my annual income when I had a contract with an annual salary. I didn't know my annual expenditure because that is irrelevant to my life. I need to know how much I have and whether I spend too much on specific things.
Maybe if you're in a position to have a financial advisor.
