You have to focus on things that aren't win rate because you could win against a bunch of bad players and you'd be worse than the guy who loses against a good player all the time but is actively learning from those losses.
Focus on things like improving punishes, execution etc. that's more tangible
If I have time I'll peek in, let me know if you would like me to chime in about stuff! Been through the trenches casually and competitively so I kinda know a bit haha if you're into that history stuff

If emulation isn't daunting for you the fightcade route is perfectly fine
08.02.2026 17:07 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0So for my actual recommendation I usually champion guilty gear xx accent core +R, which is an older iteration of Guilty Gear (oh look at that, it's on sale for $3) but generally a lot of arcsystem works games are on the more extreme movement side once you graduate a bit past street fighter stuff.

Homework for you, find out how fightcade works, should give you access to a lot of games with people on the older side. Also play.meltyblood.club has a particular version of a game that's easy access and free to download haha.

If you just want a healthy live playerbase, the modern iteration of games that were released recently are not a bad start (Street Fighter 6, Tekken 8, 2xko, etc.)
Outside of that if you see games that interest you, ask around to see if people play it still and how.
