A great question. They both feel moon-like from S Minneapolis because basically every transit option except the B Line kicks you downtown and back out.

However! That’s also part of the charm. When I’m in the mood for a bit more adventure I love both places, feels like more of a destination.

Unpopular opinion, but just because a journalist asks a question doesn't mean they believe it. Sometimes they ask a question to draw something good and interesting out of a subject. And if that's the goal, that dude's question was a good one.

Ok who is writing the story about what happened with the accordion buses last night because I personally saw five wiped out and a bunch more in pictures.

Heads up - the Hennepin/94 interchange areas is a nightmare because a bus crashed and closed off the whole street.

Really good article with lots of insight from various players and angles. I have much less of a doomsday outlook on the local scene than Taylor but I digress. 😂

Key Changes: The Tough Economics of Live Music in the Cities Post-Covid, post-City Pages, with drinking down, couch time up, and a new going-out landscape—are we still a 'music city'?

Erik did a really great job on this one: tcbmag.com/key-changes-...

What stuck with me:

-Sales tax at First Avenue during a show is 17.525%
-Icehouse rent going up $8k/month and then responding by installing a $100k sound system
-Taylor’s band making $65 off a 100 person audience

Economic Response Fund Grant Guidelines Small businesses in Minnesota that have experienced operational disruptions in recent weeks may now apply for emergency financial support through the Economic Response Fund.

I'm going to promote the heck out of this:

The Minneapolis Foundation has $4 million in grants available to small businesses for everything from rent and payroll costs to legal help and temporary relocation.

More details and the application here: www.minneapolisfoundation.org/stories/comm...

If you delete the words that make this super racist, it’s right! American culture - Nikes, burritos, LeBron James, barbecue, rap, the Super Bowl, entrepreneurs - runs the world. There is no white American culture, there is only American culture, and if this South African doesn’t like it he can leave

A bunch of people really really really showed up for their neighbors in St. Paul over the last several weeks and they deserve to have people put respect on their name. And in the spirit of that, I say:

Like 75% of the US Olympic curlers are from Minnesota. A lot of them curl out of two clubs in Saint Paul, one club is in Frogtown, a neighborhood that has been very heavily targeted by ICE. These curlers are good neighbors.

Details matter because they determine the appropriate policy policy response. It’s not clear to me that MDE could unilaterally waive the 15-day drop rule (happy to be corrected on this). But the legislature certainly could take action on this.

Hire education journalists. We know things! 5/5

MN k-12 funding is NOT directly tied to attendance, the Strib has at least 2 education reporters (not on this article) who (should) know this, and they should correct this article. 🧵

Buckle up for a little MN K-12 school finance lesson. /1
