Here's the link to the in-vision Pages From Ceefax I captured from videotape:

Checked in on the latest tape going through the teletext recovery setup, and discovered I was capturing teletext from the VBI while teletext was also in-vision on Pages From Ceefax. Very meta.

(Yes, I'll rewind when it's done and capture that, too, before you ask.)

Why is nobody asking if “severe” rain is over diagnosed when it is part of natural weather variation? Instead of flood warnings, people should be helped to find dignity through labour with a compassionate approach to getting those in a temporarily submerged lifestyle back into the workforce.

Did you know there was an official #NFL #teletext service here in the UK (in 1991 at least)?

Even though this page is from late July, I still thought it was a nice coincidence that I recovered it from videotape in close proximity to this year's #SuperBowl.

So cool to see this being used out in the wild!

I know I attempted to write good instructions, but I was still a little bit worried that the tool only made any sense to me.

I am now a mobile phone repairer (sort-of)!

The new power button set arrived from AliExpress, but the cameras, screen, battery, and antenna all had to be disconnected, and the motherboard entirely removed, in order to get to the buttons to replace them.

But my phone has survived the experience!

Using @jamienemeth.bsky.social's bamboozle generator, I have created 'bedriegd!' It's a quiz with general knowledge questions with 3 levels. It's on page 601 on bmn Bollentekst.

I'm so glad the commentators mentioned it, after it had been fixed...I wasn't sure if it was just a new way of doing things vs. a mistake, but I didn't like it!

I said there'd be more wizards!

Teletext's Ten To One is next on my radar.

Are there any other Bamboozle-style quizzes you know of, that could be template-ized?

In fact, in time, I'd like to do an LGR-style dream retro PC setup, incorporating my AverTV PCI capture card with infrared remote, that supported teletext, hooked into the whole-house UHF stuff.

Not sure why I didn't use it to view teletext more, back in the day. Maybe my aerial feed was too weak?

It's still very hands-on...the tool is aimed at those who are already familiar with the basics of teletext creation and editing.

Making your own Bamboozle-style quiz manually is fun...once...after all that manual page linking, you might be put off doing it again. This tool automates some hurdles.

I recently posted about my Bamboozle Generator, and how nothing new had been added to it in years.

That changed today...there are now wizards (and there will be more!)

Decided to add an engineering page to Nemetext, partly for amusement, partly to genuinely keep track of which frequencies to avoid when setting my UHF modulators so I don't get interference.

My internal analogue Raspberry Pi channels are coexisting happily with broadcast Freeview in all rooms 😊

Power and volume buttons from a Huawei Honor 10 mobile phone, on a piece of paper. There are two metal legs on each button, and tabs that stick out to depress the buttons on the circuit board. The £8 part arrived, and its purpose was to prove that the part it replaced wasn't where the fault lay 🤣

It spurred me on to extract the buttons, and now I can plainly see the issue (missing black nub).

Turns out I can buy replacement buttons AND the button pad flex for just £1.64 on AliExpress 😬

This tool takes in plain-text template files in the MRG Systems TTI format, and allows you to generate a collection of TTI files to form a quiz which can be uploaded to your own Teletext service.

If you wanted to create a Bamboozle quiz with questions about the museum itself...

Made this as a beta, didn't add anything new for at least two years, so decided to stop calling it a beta...

But if you can make head or tail of it, you're more than welcome!

It's the CX88-based one, so from what you told me before, I know to expect those messages to be spurious.

And the recoveries were near-perfect, certainly the best I've ever achieved (someone else's tape, recorded in SP)

Trying to reduce the number of socials I'm on, but also recognising the need to be ahead of the shockwave if/when the big ones implode, and diversifying just in case.

So now I'm waiting for an £8 part.

Finally plucked up the courage to try out the hot air station I bought in...*checks notes*...Feb 2024 😮

Getting this newfangled glued-on back off this old phone was disconcerting, but I did it. Now waiting for a £4 power/volume button replacement part.

If I pull this repair off, I'll be chuffed!

Of course, AI might explain a lot of that nowadays...

Made this meme ten years ago. Still true.

Typos are forgivable. We're all human. It just baffles me how anyone could interact with the text in their graphic designs quite so much - font choice, colouration, shape, kerning, etc. - and still not notice that they'd missed entire words out sometimes.

Tall stack of shopping baskets in the middle of store shelves.

I'm very much a fan of baskets in the middle of the store. It's perfect for the thing we all do, which is to assume we definitely won't need a basket, then we subsequently realise halfway through our shop that we really should have picked up a basket, and bam, there they are, just when we need one!
