Thatβs the bigger picture. Techniques developed through these projects then help conservation as a whole.

New Pew Research Poll shows 80% of Americans accept that humans have evolved over time.
Up from ~60% a decade ago.
Worth noting the question changed a bit, but as someone that enjoys teaching evolution, this made me feel good.
What do you think of the rephrasing of the Q?
A decade ago ancient DNA revealed that today's people have Neandertal ancestors. Ever since, scientists have been looking for ways that those Neandertal genes may matter today. A key target of research has been the brain.

In @nature.com we show that humans lived in rainforests ~150,000 years ago β over double the previous oldest estimate. Their presence in West Africaβs rainforests demonstrates the spread of early humans and places ecological diversity at the heart of our species.

Episode 3 of The Science Report in 15 minutes!
Iβm trying to create a weekly show that introduces the viewer to a few new discoveries every week.
My goal is for it to be enjoyed from the couch and the classroom.
I appreciate anyone sharing it to help me spread the word!

The good news is that I just finished episode 3 of The Science Report.
The bad news is that I edited it in my Mac dimensions.
On the bright side I have a full day to make changes. Hopefully itβs not too bad.
Newest episode of The Science Report is out a day early - I wanted more teachers to get a chance to see it.
This week has a segment featuring Yellowstone that suddenly became more important than I expected.
Please help me spread the word and get more eyes on science.

Should I go with smaller text for βthe science reportβ?
We don't talk enough about the fact that people lived alongside 20 foot long sloths in the Americas for thousands of years.
Incredible.
Happy Darwin Day!
Enjoy the first episode of my new weekly series, the science report, where I discuss some good news related to Darwinβs Frog.
(And as a bonus, itβs meant to also be played in classroomsβ¦ I want this to become βCNN10β for science teachers)

Professor Chris Stringer and Isaac Russell (Zeke Darwin) @zekedarwinscience.bsky.social discuss the newest model for the origin of our species.
Two gars (fish) are shown on a measuring board, with a dorsal view of their heads. The Longnose Gar (top of photo) is shown to have a much longer snout than the Shortnose Gar (bottom of photo). Text of the post suggests a βPinocchioβ effect where one species lied and therefore has a long nose, whereas the other one is more truthful and has a shorter nose. This is a niche fish evolution and fairytale joke that the author was compelled to tell before going to sleep.
Speciation in gars:
Longnose Gars told the most lies.
Shortnose Gars were more honest.
