My first thought was that this is satire.
My second thought was also that this is satire.
My third thought: I guess someone has a product vision for βUbiquitous Teamsβ and they are following it blindly?
Worse product decisions have been made that way TBH.
Coming in November: fireside chat with Deb Liu, former CEO of ancestry.com, product executive at Facebook and PayPal, and co-founder of Women in Product.

Good point. It had previously improved rapidly. Hard to know if GPT-5 is just a bad release or a sign that we are reaching limits. Which could mean the hype cycle ends.
BTW Altman is a very biased messenger so I pay little attention to what he says.
For many, the push to adopt AI seems to be a defensive measure: nobody will fault them for trying, but they will get blamed if a competitor finds a disruptive application first.
Still it usually a solution in search of matching problems. Rapidly improving but reality hasnβt caught up to hype.

It is still powerful and useful, just with more limited use cases than the hype.
Increasingly I am finding that the value is very situational: compile data, quick review, repeatable task or if quantity matters more than quality. Google 2.0.

Some of the best product solutions come from observing what your customers are doing despite not being officially enabled.
eBay Motors, its 1st $1B category, came from this observation after Simon Rothman saw a car listed for sale. Before it was assumed to be a crazy idea.

Perfect plans donβt survive first contact with reality.
But lightweight, adaptive plans do. Mark progress. Set experiments. Then adjust fast. Your anchor is always what customers are already doing with the product. Stop defending the βright plan.β Start iterating on the next useful one.
