Hmmm... something the current 'government' of AoNZ, should also ponder.
Can the LNG Terminal. It's an absolutely bloody ridiculous option. That we won't even own!
Unless, of course, you're doing it so you can help your sorted mates continue the rorting of AoNZers. ๐ค

I see so many people commenting about renationalising assets that should not have been sold, or setting up a new MOW instead of public private partnerships, or reminiscing about the old days when Labour was for the working people. Those policies ARE being offered again now. Vote Green. ๐

Screenshot which shows the following: Key areas of alignment with historic policies include: * Social Policy & Housing: The Green Party's proposals for income guarantees and massive public housing projects echo the welfare state expansion and state housing initiatives of the 1930s-40s Labour governments. * Environmental Action & Energy: While the Greens advocate for stronger, faster Action, their focus on climate change connects with the first mentions of atmospheric warming in Parliament by Labour in 1979. Policies like phasing out coal boilers align with long-term Environmental goals, though the Greens aim for faster implementation. * Economic Strategy: Similar to earlier, more interventionist governments, the Greens propose increased government involvement in the economy to manage resources, reduce inequality, and, interestingly, to support a shift towards sustainable industries and regenerative agriculture.

It goes on to show the parallels with various previous government policies:
A screenshot of the google answer to the question "are the NZ Greens policies similar to any historic NZ government policies?" The answer: Yes, Green Party of Aotearoa New Zealand policies often echo historical social-democratic, conservationist, and anti-nuclear policies from NZ's past, particularly aligning with mid-20th century social welfare, the 1970s environmental movement, and the 1980s nuclear-free stance. Their focus on economic redistribution, social justice, and state-led initiatives parallels past Labour government's approaches.

It's interesting to me that people get all panicky about the Greens being 'radical leftists', so I asked Google the following question:
Chris Luxon, Shane Jones, Nicola Willis, David Seymour all want to make NZ dependent on volatile LNG imports instead of renewables. Paid for by a tax on electricity. They are crackers.

Oil & Gas are about to get a lot more expensive.
That will increase the price of just about everything else that has to be transported.
It will be a painful reminder of how badly we need to get free of fossil fuel dependency and embrace renewable energy.
Ummm ditto for Aotearoa New Zealand

For everyone feeling depressed at the state of the world today.
There is hope. Never give up ๐โฎ๏ธ๐ต๐ธโ
The only reason we were able to was relocating from Welly to Chch and downsizing our house. It cost us $26k, but we've realistically saved $5k that first year alone.
Giving govt subsidies to increase solar capacity is a no brainer... unless, of course, the govt of the day answers to donors, not NZ

Imagine if the media (first) & the public heard about Green policies to the same extent that all of the racially divisive neoliberal nappy wearing faux christian cry babies, these archaic conversations we have now just wouldn't exist.
Just fucking vote Green for fucks sake
Save the planet & people
Totally agree. We've had our solar and battery here for almost 2 years. In the first year alone our total energy costs, including charging our EV, was $952.00.
Our aircon was on for that entire time too.
Personally, I'd replace the word 'country' with 'world'.
Otherwise? ๐ฏ

This election year remember the political science concept โthe conservative dilemmaโ
A party that represents the interests of the wealthy and powerful cannot win a democratic election on economic issues, so they create culture wars
This coalition is brought to you by oil and gas- of course solar was never on the agenda. Derโฆ..donors.
Do you think they work for voters? Silly puppy.

Vote Green AoNZ. Their fully costed policies (the only ones available from any political party, btw)WILL work. >80% of kiwis will pay LESS tax,& those who have more than enough will pay a bit more.
Like seriously, if you earn $250k a year, you'll pay $149/week more on tax. Chump change.
