ICE crackdown imperils Afghans who aided U.S. war effort, lawyers say
Advocates fear President Donald Trump’s ambitious deportation plan jeopardizes Afghan interpreters and other allies who worked for U.S. troops during the war.
“To the American government: I believed in you. I worked with you. I helped you for years, side by side. I trusted your words and followed your rules…Now, I sit in detention — treated like a criminal for doing exactly what I was told to do.” -Sayed Naser www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2025/...

An interesting development. Trump said the following when asked about America’s commitment & responsibility to our Afghan wartime allies already safe in the US…
Pay attention to what happens to these Afghans next. Now we find out who really runs this country, Trump or Miller.

When I was little, the U.S. military came to our home at gunpoint and took me and my family away. We were imprisoned for years in barbed wire camps simply because we were Japanese American. I have spent my life telling that story, hoping it would never be repeated.

Friends, I am very sorry to report that the Circuit Court in the CASA v Noem case has lifted the stay. No more TPS for the Afghans in America. Mass deportations may be imminent.

"ICE isn’t helping anyone. They’re not making us safer or more prosperous. With every new headline, I find it harder to understand what role they’re playing that would allow us to even call them public servants."
I published some thoughts today on ICE and the meaning of public service.

ICE can operate with impunity anywhere within 200 miles of an American border. Factor in that every airport with an international point of entry is considered a border and suddenly ICE can operate anywhere in the US. The American Gestapo is here.

And there’s how they’ll justify it - under the preposterous claim that illegals are voting.

This is terrifying. Read this & then ask yourself if you want ICE to grow by a factor of 2 to 3? Because that’s what the law passed last week does - the One Big Beautiful Bill triples its budget, doubles its detention capacity, & roughly doubles its agent count

They only take over if we let them. Did I really go to war for a country of passive authoritarians? Where are you my fellow citizens?

I never thought in my lifetime that fascism would come to our country and most Americans. So many just kind of shrug and go, “Oh well nothing I can do about that…” when there absolutely is something we can do about it.

The DHS security services (includes ICE) now has a larger budget than the entire Russian military. Why does America need a secret police?

Do folks realize all that ICE is doing and with the budget they’ve just been given - this is all a dress rehearsal for suppressing the vote in future elections. Think ICE style raids on polling places in contested areas with key Democratic turnout.

Should Hezbollah be able to successfully carry out operations in the US, it will be directly because of Stephen Miller’s obsession with deporting Latinos and Afghan wartime allies.

But, currently, our DHS & the FBI is consumed with rounding up farm and factory workers and Uber drivers to fulfill Stephen Miller’s sickest deportation fantasies.

Optimally, our government would be actively hunting down and rolling up these Iranian terrorist sleeper cells in the US before they can begin retaliation operations.

Am I concerned about the Iranian response to the US attacks? Yes. Absolutely. Here’s why. Iran is the principal supporter of a terrorist organization called Hezbollah, which has a presence in the US.

At this point, if you’re Iran, you rush to get a bomb because it’s the only way people will stop messing with you - look at the contrast between the Iranian and the North Korean experiences. It would not surprise me at all if Iran now pushes forward by whatever means necessary to get a nuclear bomb.

I fear that Iran has/will have a deal with Russia - military aid and support (hundreds of thousands of drones for example) in their war with Ukraine in exchange for Russia hosting an Iranian nuclear development program on its soil (where it would be presumably safe from Israeli and American attacks)
