Transition on Our Terms - Platform
What Oil and Gas Workers are Demanding from Governments and Industry
Scotland's oil and gas workers feel insecure and unsupported.
They don't need soundbites, they need a workers transition to renewable energy: investment in ports and wind manufacturing, fully funded training, improved conditions, trade union rights, job guarantees, and increased public ownership.

The U.K. boss of the Heartland Institute said she had been influencing Reform UK βat the highest level.β

Motion 75 Year of trade union climate action 2025β2026 β TUC Congress Motions
We do agree with Unite that a fully funded workers' plan for jobs is an essential part of a rapid transition from fossil fuels.
But it is disappointing that they pushed through an amendment to Motion 75 implying that delaying climate action may be a viable option - it clearly is not.

Without lightweight wildfire PPE, firefighters face an increased risk of heatstroke, burns and exhaustion.
Last week, firefighters from five services were sent to tackle the Holt Heath blaze without proper PPE.
We need urgent investment so firefighters are equipped to tackle the climate emergency.
