Dennis Price in A Canterbury Tale.

For Inventory purposes, today I am literally making a pilgrimage to Canterbury.

Another instalment of Inventory on a group about whom I know nothing, but which has engrossed me anyway. Also, a great “intrusive ad break for trousers” Easter egg to add an additional smile.

This a blissful album and you owe it to yourselves to give it a listen.

A million miles away from my own (obviously far superior) taste in music but still completely fascinating ;)

I love your posts. As a frequenter of 2nd hand record shops, buying the records I didn't feel able to buy in the 70s & 80s, married to a music fan whose taste barely goes beyond 1978 and a regular watcher of old music programs on BBC2 & 4 I can honestly say I have only heard of about 1% of them 😂

I rarely think about why I love a record, I was let off the hook at a young age reading in Melody Maker that "writing about (either Prince or Cocteau Twins, I forget) is like trying to put a fence around a cloud. But this made me think about why I love my Album Of The Year.

More book mail. I’d read Gerard Reve’s The Evenings based on a Backlisted episode and loved it.

I finished Hilary Spurling's biography of Anthony Powell, which is rather fine. A Dance to the Music of Time was another book I came to via @backlisted.bsky.social. I finished that - all 12 books - in November and loved it. Now doing a bit of collateral reading.
