Not only is Young Frankenstein a great movie, but itโ€™s also a wonderful snapshot of a bunch of hugely talented people at the absolute peak of their powers. Wilder talked about not wanting to go home, such was the pleasure of making this film, and that energy runs through every scene.

Robot from the 1960s tv show, Lost in Space.

It has a look that evokes a human, but is not really trying to look like a real human.

The head are has a circular glass or plastic top that looks like a clear light fixture at the top and a one that is translucent and ribbed above the โ€œshoulderโ€ area that is like a collar.

It has two arms that end in red pinchers, and a group of lights or buttons centered on what would be the chest.

On the part that in a human would correspond to hips and legs there is gray rubber, ribbed. The โ€œfeetโ€ are boxes on caterpillar tracks.

i really resent the continued assertion that thereโ€™s so much anger on both sides, as if the causes of the anger are equally legitimate. weโ€™re angry because masked maniacs are violently snatching our family and neighbors off the street, and theyโ€™re angry because weโ€™re calling them out for it.

Learn how to use it
Wim Vanrie: โ€œYou can only critically assess the output of an AI chatbot if you have the skills to do so, and you donโ€™t develop these skills by using AIโ€
University guidelines on how to use AI as a student or teacher are invariably very positively formulated. โ€œThe advice is ingrained with the optimism that this technology will only get better. Itโ€™s the same story the AI companies are telling: with more computers and more data, all will be fine. Thatโ€™s bullshit. This is and will always be a statistical, associative machine.โ€

โ€œGuidelines now focus on early adoption of the technology by students and schoolchildren. But what does it mean to โ€˜learn how to use ChatGPTโ€™? What are you teaching them? Copying and pasting the output of a chatbot? My advice would be to teach them how computers work, how to code, how to think about the processes behind all thisโ€, says Steels.

Nicky Dries takes issue with the idea that AI use would prepare students for the labour market. โ€œAre we just going along with the marketing pitch that AI will be inevitable in the workplace? Academic education has always implied a broader, intellectual education. You canโ€™t view this tendency to prioritise education and research with an immediate economic purpose separately from the planned cuts in higher education by the current government.โ€
