The idea is that they catch a train from Shrewsbury - or their nearest station - to another station, do a circular walk from there and catch the train back. The organisers tell them which trains to book, length of walk, how difficult, etc. Sometimes a 20 minute train journey, sometimes 2 hours! 🚂

My mother in law is a member of the Shrewsbury Rail Ramblers and yesterday we joined them as honorary members on a 9 mile walk around the town to celebrate her 90th birthday. What a lovely lot. And yep, she’s 90 this month and walked 9 miles yesterday 😳 🥾 🥾 🥾 #Shropshire

Yayyyyy! We went for a week back in 2017 - grey, misty and drizzly all week, didn't see a bloomin' thing. Still a great trip though.

Bird flu has arrived very early this year and Shropshire is already under DEFRA restrictions. We are receiving regular reports of dead and sick waterfowl. Please do not approach or “rescue” wild birds that are obviously ill - ring your local wildlife rescue for advice and report your find to DEFRA.

My mother in law recently commented that she had always been surprised that I hadn't "encouraged" my left handed daughter to use her right hand when she was learning to write (in the 90s!) She always thought left handed people were disadvantaged! 😯🤷‍♀️
