SO excited to be able to reveal this project that I’ve been working on with @dualwieldstudio.bsky.social!! A brand new capsule collection with a searcher and matching bandana and pin - just in time for the weather to change!

The internet doesn’t feel too good right now, but I must be optimistic that we will find a way through this endless scroll of this commercialist, alarmist, seething beast.

We made this place to connect with each other and by god we will find a way to do so again.

Their long, curved beaks fit perfectly into the tube-shaped bunch of flowers (called a “hand”) nestled under each large, petal-like bract of the male flowers.

While the fruit is not native to the area, one of its primary pollinators in the Americas is. The Violet Sabrewing is a large hummingbird, whose showy males shine brilliantly with a purple gleam.

From that native habitat they were brought west along the equator by various travelers and conquerors to India, Northern Africa, and then in the 19th Century to Central America to be grown in plantations.

Bananas have a long history of human cultivation. The precursor to our modern banana (*Musa x paradisiaca*) is filled with large, hard seeds. It began its domestication nearly 7,000 years ago in what is now New Guinea, where it was farmed into something closer to the seedless fruits we eat today.

Omg yes exactly. What a bizarre and wonderful artifact, and I’m glad it wasn’t lost!

I’m watching a video on the history of roses that is bringing up myths I’ve not yet come across and it’s a great jumping off point for further dedicated research. But I would never have come across it otherwise.

I once again find myself intensely grateful to internet archivists. I always feel this wistful gratitude at their dedication to making pre-internet media available.
