Remember: After the Fukushima tsunami, Germany decided to phase out its completely functional nuclear plants, and as result coal burning increased dramatically to continue to meet the country's electricity demand

Good news out of Germany:
A number of smaller parties not reaching the electoral treshold, enables CDU/CSU and SPD to establish a two-party coalition ✅

That opens the road to a restart of German nuclear power plants, which would be a historic change in their energy policy ⚛️📈

As example we take the Borssele plant, the only nuclear reactor operational in the Netherlands.

Since 1973, the reactor has been supplying electricity to the equivalent of 1.25 million Dutch households each year.

As it's weekend, time for some fun facts:

To generate all electricity for 1 home for 1 year, one needs:

🔸A windmill to run at full speed for 41 minutes
OR
🔸800 kilograms of coal
OR
🔸Nuclear fuel pellet the size of half a sugar cube (!)

Despite YCA / SPUT being down, the underlying spot market remains unchanged for the day, and looks to be continuing its bottoming process this week.

At current price levels, fundamentals commence supporting prices sooner rather than later.

Though SPUT Sprott Physical Uranium Trust and YCA are down for the day, the actual Uranium Spot price continues its bottoming process #Uranium ⚛️🌐

Today's numbers from Numerco:

Though we all know the term market is much more important, current reality is that the spot market has a larger impact on the investment sentiment in the financial markets

Total term contracting volume in 2024 was only 106m pounds, far below replacement value.
January 2025 was 17m pounds, i.e. more than double 2024's monthly volume.
If that rate continues, it should start impacting the availability of secondary supply & spot market #uranium #nuclear

With today's interest rates, at what delta between spot and term price, does carry trade become profitable?

Spot fell a bit further afterwards. The trend remains downwards for now. Bid/ask at 65.35/65.90 to close the week

One would think carry traders to step in here, as the gap to the term price is > 10 USD now.
