Traveling the backcountry towards the desert after passing by Joshua Tree NP.
Roy’s Motel and Cafe in the bustling town of Amboy, California.
Note: there really is not a town 😱!

They are a little messy, but even when the blossoms fall, they remain beautiful for a few days, and then they would probably blend in with the bark chips.

We had to trim it down a bit two years ago.

Mine usually goes into bloom early June, but in some nearby areas I’ve seen them bloom in April and May.
Most spectacular Jacaranda bloom I’ve seen was at the entrance to Huntington Gardens!

The stunning architecture of Disney Hall, designed by the very talented Frank Gehry.
Mr. Gehry sadly passed away at the age of 96 today.
His work remains to be admired by many people, for many years!

It’s the season!
We decorated the Jacaranda tree in the front yard with some oversized Christmas ornaments today.
Looks festive, with the full moon joining the scene.
No chance for a white Christmas, we’re getting

After the gold rush.
Downtown Columbia, a old gold rush town along
route 49 in California’s Sierra Nevada.

Yes, cars run super clean with great performance these days, but early on, the carmakers were resisting!
I was behind an old classic VW beetle the other day… it brought back memories of the 70s😂🤗🙏!
But with trump, it’s anything the oil industry wants!

Installing smog equipment like catalytic converters and using electronic fuel injection was a game changer!
After a few years our air greatly improved!

I remember the 70s, so smoggy in SoCal, you constantly had to use eye drops to soothe your burning eyes!

Yes, the Sonoran desert is my favorite as well, because of the saguaro cactus being so prolific there!
Its vast expanse in Arizona is easily accessible, but I’ve also visited the saguaro 🌵 desert in Sonora and the Baja peninsula in Mexico.

Was pretty clear all day, those clouds came out of nowhere!

They did get a couple of rain events through late summer into fall.
Always nice to drive down the Montezuma grade and feast your eyes on the desert unfolding in front of you 😍🙏!

After a nice, relatively warm
December day, some low clouds are moving over my town from the nearby Pacific Ocean.
The clouds made the sunset so pretty that I couldn’t resist taking a photo from the front and backyard 🤗!
