The first bird on the garden list for our new home in Hamworthy, a black redstart. It's been visiting every day

Going to reality miss these views! We're swapping the peeping oystercatchers and shrieking peregrines of Asda for the helicopters of Hamworthy

Priority Services This is a free service for customers who’d benefit from extra support before, during and after a power cut.

For those struggling with repeat power outages in E Dorset/N Poole @ssencommunity.bsky.social tracking service suggests we should be back to normal by 6pm.
Appears to be a fault at Blandford.
If you have a vulnerable person in your home register for priority service www.ssen.co.uk/power-cuts-e...

Aha! The lights have all been flickering in the house we're decorating, right after we did some work on light fittings. We eventually shut off the lighting circuits and went home to find the lights there flickering too!

It's stunning isn't it? And it does not look like a ship designed to stay upright!

We do blood tests, so we don't meet patients, we just use it to put the right reference ranges on

As someone who recently found I am intersex it turns out what letter was written on my birth certificate would give you at the very least a pretty incomplete understanding of my anatomy. I think we can expect better from our health service than these dangerous and inaccurate generalisations.

This is really interesting. In our hospital dept we put a small 'trans' note on the patient record, that only we can see. Works fine. We've had objections from other depts saying people might not want that to be known. But our aim is to provide appropriate care.

I work in healthcare and some of us are really pushing back against a move to record 'sex' as 'birth' sex. If I'm interpreting blood test results, I need to know the current information! We've been doing it this way for years. If it ain't broke don't fix it

In the same trip, my mum's valid subway ticket wouldn't work. Police charged her with fare evasion and had a court case in her absence (not guilty)

In 2002 we were refused entry until we could provide the exact street address of our hotel in NYC. "Come on, it's a massive building on Times Square" was not an acceptable response.

"I spoke to one 80-year-old woman who has been in our organisation for decades, who said it was one of the greatest experiences of her life, and the only place in her 80 years where she’s been treated as a woman with respect.”

What does this do for women's rights?

Water Rail are regular night migrants over Poole & the Asda Peregrines often take advantage of the light pollution & catch them at night. The remains are often blown off the feeding ledge on the Asda flats during strong winds giving a great insight into recent food items @dorsetbirdclub.bsky.social

These things inspire such absurd nostalgia in Poole's big kids. So many happy memories of clambering on these

Same situation, but I didn't know what all the vegetables were because I didn't recognise some of them. When I asked for help/time to learn them, I was laughed at, so I put all the mystery ones through as swede

The crackdown on LGBTI people in Turkey is drastically intensifying. New draft laws criminalise anyone who β€œengages in behaviours contrary to biological sex and general morality.” Even promoting or supporting LGBTI rights could become a crime. 🧡

I'm seeing a few media reports on Lyme disease at the mo. It can be a serious condition, but please bear in mind it can also be a false diagnosis. It's promoted by people who offer fake tests to give people the result they want, then flog them private treatment.

I recently learned about 'buzz pollination'. Some flowers release a burst of pollen in response to the buzzing of a bee. Or a toothbrush
