I did not accept the funds and went straight to paypal's site to talk with customer service

100% it is yet another type of scam trying to get access to people's funds

JUST as an FYI, there is a new confirmed #Paypal 'penny' scam going around where someone trying to seem legit will send you a very small payment in the form of several cents in order to get you to accept the funds or call a number they are providing.

Confirmed it to be true with Paypal CS
