This is a mere accident of development and does not indicate any additional difference in sound. For our example, we have duv, ‘shadow, umbra’. Vulcan possesses a “sister planet” that is significantly larger than the moons of Earth or even Kronos (while the latter existed), and is almost as large as Vulcan itself. They are tidally locked, which means that the same sides are always facing one another, while the pair rotate around a gravitational point between them. As a result, this sister planet is only visible from half of Vulcan and is always at the same point in the sky, and that there is a significant portion of the surface which experience daily planetary eclipses. This “little night” in the umbra of the eclipse is a significant driver of the unique subcultures of those areas.
