A graphic for The Hidden Beast Chapter 7 featuring the cover for the story with Tsukiya kneeling in the snow. The AO3 and Wattpad logos are next to it. Above the cover and logos is a small snippet from the story.
Chapter 7 of Hidden Beast was posted last night. It's a testament to how much Sakumo loves Tsukiya, and how worried he's going to be for a good long while. (He might need some sakΓ© after this tbh π)

An excerpt from The Knightbane's Prize (Raven & Bear: 1) by Bramble, in black text on a white background. It describes a monster referred to as an Afanc.
The Afanc is often described as having crocodilian and rodent features, with it living in or near water where it grapples its prey. The Lake Hopper is based on a Welsh Cryptid which looks pretty frog like called Llamhigyn y DΕ΅r (The Water Leaper). Not hard to see where I got my inspiration.

Technically... no. I've been taking a lot of inspiration from Welsh myth and folklore for the monsters of Raven & Bear. In that sense I didn't really come up with them.
I like to think I've put a unique spin of them though.

The Wine-Dark Sea by Kris Madigan
When her wifeβs ship vanishes in the Aegean, Helena must set off on an odyssey to find her.
i made this meme last week for other reasons otherwise the dog would be wearing sunglasses (which i am doing right now in my brief return to The Computer post dinner) and with what little energy I have left, here's the link

So I think an easy answer are things like dogs and horses. However, I do intend to show off a domesticated animal which is a little stranger in a future story.
I won't spoil too much but it has to do with the sea.

So, the story itself implies it takes place six centuries after an apocalypse post-1960s by max four decades. This "calamity" left that area of land irradiated and inhospitable for humans who retreated. Gradually forests overtook it and various "monsters" began to appear from it. So...?

Rhonda's features are adaptations animals in Chernobyl have. Specifically, frogs found in that area are reported to have become melanistic to better cope with radiation as have some wolves. Additionally, a loss of hair and discoloured yellow irises occur when in contact with radiation.

An excerpt from Proof Heraldic (Raven & Bear: 2) by Bramble, in black text on a white background. It describes the town of Maentwrog and a merchant called Rhonda.
Notably, it says decades rather than anything like half a century or sixty years (as it has been now). Its also stated in that story the area where England used to be has become a forest which makes people sick if they pass through it. Though some people have adapted to this phenomenon.

An excerpt from Proof Heraldic (Raven & Bear: 2) by Bramble, in black text on a white background. It describes the location and story of Tryweryn Valley and how England flooded it.
Perhaps the biggest hint at when the calamity happened comes from the same story where it's first mentioned. Proof Heraldic also has Sir Corbyn tell the story of Tryweryn Valley and how it was flooded by the empire which ruled them before the calamity struck. This really happened in the 1960s.

An excerpt from Of Dina & Dan (Raven & Bear: 5) by Bramble, in black text on a white background. A description of a record player as though it were strange and alien.
At several points, characters find pre-calamity tech which hints at when this event occurred and what happened. For instance, Ata finds a record player in Of Dina & Dan. Then, an inn has electrical kettles in The Eisteddfod. Meaning the apocalypse happened relatively close to our time.

This is going to be a thread I can already tell. Simply put yes annd no. In various stories, my characters discuss a "calamity" which happened six centuries ago.
The issue becomes, when was the apocalypse in relation to us.

Nope. Vaguely "hockey season" which is basically October through June nowadays, but no year. It IS winter, and I mention FaceTime and ride shares, so it's contemporary.

Sidonay is practiced in the art of Takyu-dancing (roller skate dancing). He's very into fashion and designs some of his own clothes, including his hat. He's also a trained organist, something that made him appealing to Fumatsu (the Demon Lord who possesses him, also an organist)

I was out and about when I requoted but now I'm home I feel bad for not giving you all an excerpt. So here you go!
Context: Madarch uses neo-pronouns, however because these characters speak Welsh I use the Welsh pronouns for they/them to represent neo-pronouns developed within this culture.

The illustrated bookcover of Awaken, My Love a gay gothic romance novel. It shows a brown vampire with red eyes and shoulder-length wavy black hair wearing antique black and white clothing while looking toward the viewer. He is holding a man in his hands. The man is pale with long beige hair, wearing white and cream colored clothing. He is in profile, looking up and gripping the vampire's shirt. There are split open pomegranates threaded through the burgundy title of the novel.
In the background is a broken gothic window, and at the bottom are chains. The cover is in shades of reds, browns, mauves, and blacks.
I also made a little trope map to show you the representation of me as the author and Awaken, My Love as a whole.
Representation is extremely important to me and one of the reasons why I started writing in the first place.
