The beauty of #Raven+Bear being is that I can have months pass between each adventure. I intend to have many characters from old stories pop back up.

The cutest set up I have for this comes from my second story Proof Heraldic, where Nim is mentioned.

Though I'm cheating because they're short stories in a collection rather than one continuous work.

It's a lot easier to stick with an idea the shorter the story is.

I do feel like I struck gold though.

So, #Raven+Bear is a collection of short stories following the quests of a knight (Sir Corbyn) and his page (Ata) through the kingdoms of Cambria (Post-Apocalyptic Wales). It's got a similar vibe to The Last of Us or The Witcher but like 30% more wholesome. Closer to Nimona or Hilda in tone.

A surrogate parent / child trope. This trope often has the parent reject the child like Joel (TLoU) or Geralt (Witcher). They lash out until their own trauma is reconciled later.

My approach for Sir Corbyn & Ata differs. Excerpt from The Knightbane's Prize (first story in #Raven+Bear).

Also let me be frank, I feel like a little more setting description somewhere would have helped but I'm talking like two or three more phrases. When I said I read stuff lacking it I mean they had nothing! So genuinely Wolffie, your story was amazing!

Yeah setting is tricky. I think honestly, less can be more so long as there isn't none. It's like set design for different scenes of a play, the same as character descriptions being costumes for the actors. If I do a long description it's usually because something in the setting is weird.

Badly, didn't get much done. Playing V20 :3 /\/(^-w-^)\/\ right now.

To answer @justalowkeygamer.bsky.social, the whole mushroom town bit is hilarious. But I love their hats because they let kids decorate them so they feel helpful.
