This is also the world in the Silo. It's inhabitants are asked to follow rules of an order that makes little sense, and they have no say in the social compact. They have no right to decide their own future. It's a very smart allegory of the absurdity of the US system.

Any constitution can only be a living constitution that adjusts to the time. Why should future generations hold on to a bargain struck by our ancestors from centuries ago? It makes no sense. Except this is how the US constitutional system works.

In one of the more striking passages he criticizes the reified constitution that never changes. The idea of a constitution is that it serves as a social pact between various groups. But, when this is unchanging whatever circumstances, it is an instrument of oppression/domination

Recently, I've been reading the We the Elites by Robert Ovetz. In it he describes how the elites wrote the constitution to serve their purposes, and the founding injustices are never acknowledged in the official mythology.

I've only seen s1 and I'm not sure where things go in the books, but the current season can be read as a criticism of the constitutional system of the US. The survivors have to conform to a set of rigid laws laid down by the "founders" and this constitution is called the "Pact".
