The term β€œunderaged girls” is too often used to soften the blow of the deviant acts by pedophiles.

They are CHILDREN.

The vernacular we use matters!

There’s no downplaying this!!

We are supposed to protect children not enable predators who feast on them!!

Texas is a war zone. GOP’s jamming through a mid‑decade map to grab 5 more U.S. House seats. Dems fled the state, Abbott’s threatening arrests. This isn’t politics...it’s raw power. The side that blinks first loses America’s future.

#OTD we remember Ida B. Wells. She risked everything to expose lynching in America, traveling where others wouldn’t and co-founding the NAACP.

Born into slavery, she became one of the fiercest truth-tellers in history. #TheMarchContinues

On August 6, 1965, Lyndon Johnson signed into law the Voting Rights Act, protecting all U.S. citizens from racial discrimination while voting.

Martin Luther King, Jr., Rosa Parks, John Lewis, and other members of the Civil Rights movement were invited guests for the signing.

The law immediately decreased racial discrimination in voting. The suspension of literacy tests and the assignments of federal examiners and observers allowed for high numbers of racial minorities to register to vote.

By the end of 1965, 250,000 new Black voters had been registered, one-third by federal examiners. By the end of 1966, only four out of 13 southern states had fewer than 50 percent of African Americans registered to vote.

In rulings in 2013 and 2021, the Supreme Court significantly weakened the Voting Rights Act, by allowing local and state governments to pass voting rules without federal oversight, resulting in more than 165 state bills related to election laws that limited voting access in 17 states (many of which targeted minority populations).
