First, sweet treat reward, then a lot of sleep.

When it actually comes to revising, I do a detailed reverse outline with plot points and character development. Helps me spot any significant holes/inconsistencies that I need to fix.

I'll go days without writing, too tired from work. When I do write I want to get as much done as I can and remind myself I can fix things later when editing.

Keep going, you'll get there!

My writing goal for February is to add another 15k to my wip. In the first two days I've written 2898 words and I have a week off work coming up. Already feeling like I'm gonna smash it.

Rereading The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. Fell in love with it the first time and been meaning to reread it for ages

I reached my writing goal for the month so my partner got me a little treat. Wrote the first 15k of my current WIP and feeling so hyped. Sometimes I struggle with writing around work and need that extra little incentive but blimey does it work.

To those of you who use chapter titles, what comes first, the chapter or the title?

For me, it varies. Sometimes the title helps guide the chapter and others the chapter needs to come first so I can think of a title to suit it.

I think I'm about to DNF my first book of 2025, permanently or not I'm not sure. Just haven't connected with it so far and even there have been more proofreading errors than I've seen in any book for a long time and it just keeps annoying me.

I've looked at the CIEP courses and they've been recommended to me by others as a more formal certification, especially since I'm just getting started. Unfortunately I can't afford to go for it in my current circumstances

Sometimes I only have one project from drafting to final edits. Now though, I have about 3 ongoing that I'm shifting between as my motivation and inspiration fluctuates

I get so disproportionately annoyed when I spot minor mistakes in published books. Maybe a good sign for someone who wants to get into freelance proofreading though?
