Really excited to be celebrating another Edinburgh launch, this time at the Scottish Poetry Library, alongside four incredible poets and fellow Young Makars!

Thanks Mary for the beautiful pic of the garden it looks so lovely. It was my first time at Little Sparta and such a hidden gem I felt so lucky to be there 🌿💚

Had such a wonderful poetry-filled weekend ✨

My poem Nettles was The Scotsman’s poem of the Week on Saturday, followed by a magical visit to Little Sparta, Ian Hamilton Finlay’s ‘Garden Poem’, where I read alongside Janette Ayachi, Nasim Rebecca Asl and Chris Crawford to celebrate Ian’s centenary

Full text of poem:

Dostoevsky's death mask at the Russian Museum of Málaga

Sunday, after four,
when the entry is free.

I look at this heavy head
on an even heavier pillow
and refuse to believe
that when you died
your eyes weren’t open.

No, Anna must have closed them.

Later that day Kramskoi came
to make a drawing.
Your half-smile, faint.
Your hair was still growing.

It’s Sunday afternoon,
but no one is here.
I just want to scream “Mine!”
and try to break the glass
only to run off crying.
