I straight-up did not read fiction for pleasure (i.e. outside of schoolwork, which I did begrudgingly or by skimming) from like at least 2013 until partway through this year and now I spend a huge percentage of my free time reading. It’s kind of crazy how much it’s improved my life tbh.

told in a journal format, its about a guy who lives in an impossible, endless superstructure, a structure so large it has weather and tides. its a story about the indomitable human spirit and is really touching

so even if u can only dedicate like a half hour before bed then u can still get a shocking amount of reading done in a year

also, like most days i read only 30 minutes or less bc i just read on by breaks and i still was able to read like over 10 books this year

getting back into reading has improved my ability to pay attention, i think, but its definitely been really rewarding

also no one is expecting you to read Tolstoy right away

if u gotta start with like a 50 page novella to get back into things i think thats fine!

i dont know who needs to hear this but ur not too stupid or have too little attention to get back into reading. ur giving yourself too little credit and i believe in you
